BoltNagi Plans Holiday Fundraising with the Governor

The Salvation Army of the Virgin Islands will kick off its Annual Red Kettle Campaign on November 27, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. on the steps of  Government House in St. Thomas with help from Governor John P. de Jongh, Jr., the Honorary Chairman of The Salvation Army 2014 Red Kettle Campaign. Governor de Jongh will join local The Salvation Army officers and Advisory Board members for this year’s first donation in the organization’s largest international fundraising event.

The public is invited to take part by joining in this event or visiting any of the six Salvation Army Red Kettle locations on St. Thomas from November 27th to December 24th and donating at one of the iconic red kettles. The Salvation Army is not just looking for donations of money. Anyone who would like to donate their time ringing a bell at a red kettle can contact the local Corps on either St. Croix or St. Thomas.

Last year, The Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign helped serve over 45,000 meals in St. Thomas alone. “If you have ever passed a homeless person and wished there was a way you could help them, then this is how. Every underprivileged person who reaches out for help needs to be fed before anything else can be addressed in getting them to a more stable situation. Every donation counts towards making that difference.” Major Dan Hazeldine, Regional Coordinator noted.
