Services – Tax Exempt & Charitable Entities

BoltNagi PC represents a large and diverse group of tax-exempt clients. They include every kind of organization from sizeable family trusts and foundations to major public charities and trade associations. We also represent individuals in their roles as officers and directors of, and contributors to, exempt organizations.

We have formed numerous new charities, business leagues, employee benefit trusts and other exempt entities and have guided them through the process of obtaining IRS recognition of their tax-exempt status. Our services, however, go far beyond the organization phase and include advice on all aspects of exempt organization activity.

Territorial tax issues are of increasing concern to exempt organizations. We advise clients on the full spectrum of territorial problems, including property tax exemption, eligibility for special tax exemptions, and increasing territorial regulation of income-producing and fundraising activities.

Another significant service to our tax-exempt clients is lobbying. Our lawyers represent exempt groups before the Legislature of the Virgin Islands, as well as administrative agencies. We also advise exempt clients about the permissible scope of their own direct and grassroots lobbying and such related issues as the effect of lobbying on charitable status and on the deductibility of association dues.
